A swedish designer who moved to the US in the 1920’s and is known for having worked under Nat Herreshoff.

Famous for his daring designs such as the first “lottery yacht” for the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS), named ‘Prisca, built in 1899 of riveted iron and considered his masterpiece. He also designed a number of 6 and 8 Metre yachts.

In 1943, 4 years after his death his book “Naval Architecture as Art and Science” was published. He worked on it for 40 years and it was considered very controversial.

Not to be mistaken with his brother, the head of the Liljegren Shipyard in Goteborg.
