Responsible for designing a number of day-boat classes including the Solent Sunbeam, the X One Design Class (of which 198 have been built since 1909) and the Victory. Many were designed especially for the local conditions of the Solent.

The Royal Naval Club and Royal Albert Yacht Club and the Victory Class hosted the inaugural Westmacott One Design Regatta for day boat classes in the Eastern Solent in June, 2009. 52 boats took part and it is set to continue. Bringing these boats together for their own event proved appropriate as they currently enjoy the surge of interest in one-design day-boat racing.
