‘I used to own Flicka. I bought her in 1992 in Fort Lauderdale where she sat in a mud berth for 16 years. She had toredo worm through much of her oak keel, rudder horn timber and stem. I fixed her up and sailed her to Beaufort, NC and carried on the refit there. I eventually sailed her to Antigua in 1993 and entered the classic yacht regatta where she was much admired.
I sold her to Paul Deeth from ‘The Inn’. He had her for 14 years and just sold her to a Dutch guy (I think) and she is now in France. I was only 25 when I bought her and I like to think I saved her life with my youth and enthusiasm, for wooden boats….I would never do it again but it was great fun at the time!

‘My father owned ‘Flicka’ from about 1956 to when he died in 1970. She was kept on the Hamble River, near Southampton. She was used for family cruising around Southampton Water, across to France and, on one occasion, a trip to the Baltic. I understand she is now back in France and would love to receive information on her whereabouts and general health.’
