Patricia

Patricia was pride of the Royal Canadian YC fleet, commissioned by Commodore Norman R Gooderham who won the Richardson Cup with her in 1912 at the Chicago Yacht Club. Her sister ship is Bernice.

“In 1980, I enjoyed refastening the P-boat Patricia, owned at that time by my friend Duncan Green (my banjo-playing paddler), who had it in a crude wooden cradle, on his front lawn, on Balboa Court in Clarkson, Ontario. The neighbours were under-whelmed. Duncan fiberglassed it inside and out, after gently sandblasting away all suspect wood and every last trace of dryrot, and totally refastening it, exactly as he had earlier successfully done with his Sparkman & Stevens 6-meter class ‘Mist’. He and I drove over a hundred pounds of brass screws into Patricia’s hull. The last I heard, Patricia and Mist had been trucked to the ‘Lake of the Woods’ near kenora, in around 1985, where Duncan and his wife Sue were placer-mining their gold claim.” Brian A. Johnston
