Light Airs and a scorching day on the first day of Panerai’s Copa Del Rey in Mahon

With only 15 boats finishing out of 40+ classics afloat it was a frustrating day, not just for the lack of wind but for the scorching heat as well. Chinook was the only yacht to finish in the Gaff class whilst the 13 strong Classic class was just completed by Bufeo Blanco, Emeraude, Namib and Yanira. Mariquita won the Big Boat Class ahead of centenarian Moonbeam IV (who came in second) and Hallowe’en (who had a DNF).

More breeze today and hopefully more boats finishing!!
