In 1926 Cornu was hired by Paul Jouët to design for the Jouët family’s Chantiers Navals de Sartrouville yard on the Seine north west of Paris. He spent much of his design career with the Jouët firm. Best known for the small cruiser, the ‘Balouga’ (1943), of which nearly 1000 were built, but there are many other yachts and dinghys to his credit such as the ‘Mousse’.
His nephew, Andre Cornu, was the designer of the International 470 dinghy.
