Built as ‘Oriole IV’ for Commodore George Gooderham of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, Toronto. After completion she experienced many problems with her jib headed mainsail which repeatedly parted company with its headboard. This resulted in her mainmast being shortened about 15 feet.
Loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. Acquired by them in 1952 for sail training purposes and given present name. Still in that capacity and is the oldest commissioned vessel in the Navy. Now based in Esquimault, British Columbia. (2009)
