The Rosenfeld Collection at Mystic Seaport contains a million images emphasizing classic yachting created from the lens of Morris Rosenfeld & Sons of New York City.
But even more than photos of boats, the collection represents the epitome of the art of maritime photography, just as the subjects represent the ideals of the art of naval architecture.
Here, taken between 1890 and 1954, yachting historian John Rousmaniere interprets 79 images that speak to the artistry of boats and the photography that captures them. ‘Sleek and elegant’ describes both the vessels themselves and the striking photographic images.
