Classics provide backdrop to first FINA High Diving World Championships

Nerves of steal

Thats what’s great about sailing, particularly classic yachts. You can sail to which ever port tickles your fancy and then be accepted as beautiful and photogenic. The first FINA High Diving World Championships has just finished with women diving from 20 metres and the men from 27 metres. An incredible sight as they launch themselves for their 3 second descent in which they twist, pike and tuck. Mariette, Mariquita, Eilean and Moonbeam III are part of the classic fleet remaining from the ‘Puig Vela Classica Barcelona’ regatta that ran from the 10th -13th July and with the month of free berthing that comes with it yachts remain here to slap on another coat of varnish, with the hospitality of the city at the end of the passerelle.

Here are some photos showing the sights from the bowsprit over the last 3 days.
