2012 in Pictures : Nigel Pert

2012 has been a spectacular year for Classic sailing with prestigious events from the Caribbean to the Uk to the Mediterranean.

Brest Maritime Festival

Mariette makes an appearance at the 20th Festival of the sea in Brest where over 1000 boats were present.

Nice Regatta

Two 19th Century Gaff cutters beat to windward. The William Fife III design, Pen Duick(1898) and the Charles Nicholson design, Avel(1896).

The 35-metre schooner, Sunshine, built in Burma in 2004 and based on old original Fife drawings.

Regates Royales – Cannes

Rowdy and Seven Seas Of Porto race to the finish.

This season with even longer spars, the magnificent Herreshoff schooner, Elena.

Eilidh, The Blue Peter and Eilean race west across the Bay of Napoule.

The feeder race from Cannes to St Tropez takes the fleet to the last major regatta of the season, previously known as The Nioulargue.
