2012 in the UK

PANERAI / EILEAN IN LONDON FOR WEMPE EVENTMany big boats have headed to the UK this ‘Summer’ to make the most of the action that surrounds the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee attracted the most spectacular fleet seen on the Thames for decades and Eilean made it to the capital for a little PR (www.eilean.it).

South coast events have included the Westward Cup, the J-Class run-around that started in Falmouth, followed shortly after by the Pendennis Cup and the Panerai British Classic Week. The 8-Metre Worlds are underway in Cowes(15th-21st July) and there is further J-Class action and the Superyacht Cup just around the corner.

With many of the competitors heading south to the comfort of the Mediterranean climate, the next few weeks may be your last chance to grab your coat and sou’wester and head out to brave the British summer and witness some awesome sailing sights! You never know, the sun might come out.
