The wonderful regatta in Porto Santo Stefano on Italy’s west coast is back in 2012 (14th-17th June), and if you are looking for a quaint location, good food, even better wine and some great sailing, then this is the regatta for you.
The history of the Argentario Sailing Week goes back to 1992 when a group of Yacht Club Santo Stefano (YCSS) members organized a classic yacht regatta called ‘Silver Sails’. As the years passed the number of classic yachts increased and in 1999 the Argentario Sailing Week was finally born.
The Regatta, which takes place traditionally in the second half of June, when the breeze is stronger, hosts a selection of yachts belonging to Classic, Vintage, Spirit of Tradition and Metric classes and sees the participation of a variety of competitors from all over the world.
The yachts are moored along the spectacular ancient harbour of Porto S. Stefano, called “La Pilarella”, where crews enjoy the historical charm of the village and its restaurants, bars and boutiques straight on the docks.
Three challenging days of racing in some of the best sailing conditions in the Mediterranean combined with the famous Panerai and YCSS hospitality make the Argentario Sailing Week an event not to be missed.
