Submit Information on this Yacht
Designed & built for a prominent cruising club member who cruised and raced her extensively. She is a veteran of 10 Bermuda races and 5 Cape Town to Rio races. She has cruised from Mexico to Turkey, and from Maine to South America.
“She also had the fastest time in the 1969 Newport to Spain race. I believe thats what Bates McKee told me after i bought the boat from The School for Field Studies. I owned and sailed her
for about 10 years out of Gloucester, mostly on the N.E. coast. Bates was not happy with responsiveness, so he removed the attached rudder and replaced it with a SS skeg rudder further aft. She handles like a Porsche. What a great boat.
This Bill Tripp design was first drafted on the back of a cocktail napkin according to Bates McKee, the original owner.” Information courtesy of Phil Cole.
In 2013 she was for sale by her fourth owner.
