Verity of Cowes (SC8) was the fastest boat of all classes in the Isle of Wight Round the Island Race in her first year, 1956.
128 boats in total started, 14 of which were South Coast One Design’s (SCOD’s). The first six places were taken by SCOD’S. The winner of the “Roman Bowl Trophy” (the trophy for the fastest boat of all classes) was Verity of Cowes, at the time under the name “Nilly Willy”.
Further earlier names were “Bolter” and “Mahogany Log”.
