Previous names include ‘Ariel’ and ‘Sylphe IV’.

Built for a Frenchman called Mr Paul Blanchet, construction started in 1940 at Chantier de Pharo” in Marseille.   Due to the Second World War she was not completed until 1947.

She competed under the RORC rules of that era and when the rules changed in 1953 Sylphe was fitted with a taller rig and a small bowsprit.

Restored in 1954. Found in 1999 and underwent a restoration.
