Built for Fisher Beard, Solace II was originally rigged as a ketch. She was then re-rigged as a sloop during the 1960’s.
Served in Fremantle, Australia during World War II as a Naval Auxiliary Patrol Vessel ‘HMAS Melton Lass’, #725 (see Australian War Memorial site and Australian Historic Vessel site with Australian Maritime Museum).
Previous names also include ‘Windemere’.
Cruised extensively in S E Asia during 1980’s.
Substantial rebuild during 1996 to 2005. New laminated frames fitted, new decks, deckhouse sides, refastened and re-rigged and the engine replaced. Interior rebuilt in Queensland Red Cedar.
Based in Northern Territory, Australia(2011).
