Yacht: Pursuit

Submit Information on this Yacht

Purchased in 1937 and brought to the West Coast, ultimately renamed Pursuit, this boat has had a long and at times very successful career, first as a racing boat, then as home to the owner, and finally as a wonderful boat for casual day sailing. Not bad for a boat that’s over 85 years old!
“I ran across the Classic Yacht website and thought to write you about Pursuit (originally Avatar when launched). She is the last of the M-class boats built around 1928/9. I was friends with her owner until his passing 3 years ago. Pursuit was then sold and is now on the hard in Richmond, California at Svendsen’s Marine. She’s been there about two years. . . . .(2021).
I crewed and skipped on her over the years and she is absolutely magnificent at 82 feet length and a spruce mast of 105 feet from base to peak. Attached is a picture, but there are many to be found on the web. She sailed out of Sausalito, California for 50+ years.” Brian Farkas
Below is video trailer of a movie that has been made about Ron, the owner of 50 years, and his PURSUIT.
