Submit Information on this Yacht
Based on the Colin Archer design, ‘Mars’, built back in 1896 for Mr Benneche, a Norwegian industrialist.
Another design from the same drawings, ‘Viking’ was given a higher freeboard and more weight in the keel. ‘Viking’ was sailed by John Illingworth in the 1931 Fastnet Race. Later her name was changed to ‘Escape’ and she was lost during a hurricane in the Caribbean in the 1950’s.
