Madifra, an acronym of the names of the her owner’s children, was splashed by the Gino d’Este yard at Fiumicino near Rome. At the time she was Marconi cutter-rigged but was later converted to a yawl. The batch of wood used to build her had been seasoned for 30 years and this would keep her hull in fine condition and completely leak-free. More recently, Madifra was purchased by Milanese architect and sailing enthusiast Matteo Rossi who owned the 11-metre Blue Bird for 23 years.
