Commissioned by an Italian/Swiss owner she was launched as ‘Birba’.
Shortly after her name was changed to Birbona and was based at Portofino for many years.
Her 7/8th fractional rig was designed by well-known Danish sailing champion Paul Elvstrom, who also skippered her in the yachts first regattas.
