Tilly XV

Built in Germany for Prince Heinrich Von Preussen, brother of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Prussia.

Master Skipper Joerg Moessnang (1992 – present) – “Tilly XV was built in 1912 for Mr. Richard Krogmann Hamburg German Reeder and his Royal Highness Prinz Heinrich von Preussen, brother of Wilhelm II. Tilly was designed by Willi von Hacht which was at this time a very famous naval engineer and owner of Willi von Hacht shipyard in Hamburg on the lake Alster.

Tilly XV won the the ‘Kieler Woche’ in her class and was directly sold to the President of the Bayerischer Yacht Club / Starnberger See Hauptmann, Richard von Alweyer.

After many owner changes Siegfried Rittler from Starnberg bought the yacht from Mr. Delle Karth Innsbruck, Austria and under his command Tilly was sailing on Lake Garda, Italy. Tilly XV did won most of her races which she took part in. In 2015 she won the Regattes Royales in Cannes, her group and overall as best performance yacht.

In 2016 she won the US North-American Panerai Classic Yacht Challange in the day racer class.”

“We did the 60 nm Round the Island Race in almost 8 hours, reaching in the big surf over 14 kn. A mastbreak caused from a shackle failure on the capshroud in the first race, whilst leading the whole fleet, made a top ranking impossible during Antigua Classics. The great help from Woodstock made it possible to race the third and the fourth days. The experience sailing a 105 year old open gaff rigged Sonderklasse was so exiting and gave an imagination how the sailors in the early 20th Century did manage to sail in Kiel, Marblehead and in the Biscay on open waters under racing mode.” Jöerg Mössnang
