Tamara IX

Built for Halfdan Hansen who, in 1932, asked Jensen to design a fast cruiser with more accommodation than an 8-Metre.   He used her for 3 years but felt he wanted a bit more of a cruiser.   Tamara X (Jensen also) was bigger still but also moved away from the “Meter boat” type a bit more.   Tamara X proved a more popular type and led to 5 sister ships being built as well as some larger versions.

Restored in 2000 at the Cantiere Navale dell’Argentario of Italy she is owned and raced by Doug Peterson and was at the ‘Voiles de St Tropez’ in 2004.
