Merry Maid

Charles Sibbick Interest Association:

After the tragic event of the fire in Cowes that destroyed the cutter Witch, Martin Nott the owner of “Witch” has found not only another Sibbick yacht but he is now the new owner of her. She is beautiful. “Merry Maid” a 24 ft Linear Rater designed and built by Charles Sibbick and launched in 1906. She is very lightly built with thin planks and oak ribs every 6 inches. Merry Maid has spent more than 30 years in a garden and in the last few years she has been covered in glass fibre covering the original hull. She is a very elegant yacht made for racing. “Merry Maid” is 34.5ft long, has a 6.2ft beam and a draft about 4ft.

We know with Martin’s skill as a Boat Builder and his great enthusiasm of Charles Sibbick and his yachts “Merry Maid” could not have arrived at better hands to restore and care for her.
