Only four of the ‘fighting forties’ remain.
Previously owned by Brooks Stevens Jr.
There are old photos that shows Marilee jib headed with no gaff or bowsprit. She was rigged strictly as a sloop.
Marilee was restored by William Cannell in Camden, Maine, in 2001 for a syndicate of New York Yacht Club members. She then went to Cowes for the America’s Cup Jubilee regatta in August and cleaned up.
She has been owned for a number of years by an Italian family during which time she performed well at the annual classic regattas in the Mediterranean.
02/2015 – “Marilee is undergoing a two year refit at French and Webb in Belfast, Maine. She is under new ownership- Marilee NY40 Racing LLC. She will be racing this coming summer in the New England Classic circuit before returning to Belfast, Maine for the second part of her refit.
